Organization

Area Description
Inventory Display Defines what records display to screen

Access

Single Server Coexistence
Gain RM database and application may coexist on a single server, however it is not a requirement 

Concurrent End User Licensing
End user access is managed by way of the number of concurrent connections to the database, not the number of users accounts set up in Gain RM.

Release Management Control
To prevent Gain RM software updates from inadvertently being deployed without passing company policy for testing and approval of software release

Release updates can only be installed in the test directory. The update is then rolled into the production directory, upon proper authorization. 

Optional Training Environment 
The training environment is an excellent solution for training new users, or training on new processes to learn and review their input.

Gain RM allows for a replication of the production environment for users and system administrators to model business scenarios without impacting the production data, or release testing in progress. 

System Requirements

Server Requirements

- Microsoft NT4-SP5, Windows 2000 Server, Advance Server, Terminal Server
- Unix for Oracle (Enterprise Edition)

Application Server Requirements

- Microsoft IIS4 (NT) IIS5 (Windows 2000)
- A minimum of 50mg is required for the mandatory installation of two complete directories, Gain RM Production and Gain RM Test.
- An additional 25mg is required if optional third directory, Gain RM for Training is installed.

Database Requirements

Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, SQL 2000, Oracle 8i and 9 (Enterprise Edition)

Full Text Search & English Query 

  • Estimate 3kb per inventory record 

  • Estimate 2.5kb per business transaction, i.e. circulation and destruction. 

  • Estimate 2mg in total for system data

Additional Requirements

The following components are required and are included with the Gain RM installation package. 

  • Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.6

  • Windows Script Versions 5.1

  • Crystal Decisions Crystal Reports current release

Security

There are pre-defined security models in Gain RM to assist in expediting security controls. This alleviates the need to set up security from “scratch.” 

A group of menus and features create a Menu Model. Menu Models can be linked to one or more users. When a Menu Model is updated i.e. to enable or disable a menu item, it is not required to do any further update on the desktop or at the user level.

Elements of Security and Access

  • Define a user's security profile

  • Determine authorized areas and functions 

  • Determine records authorized to access

Menu Security

The menu security provides complete control over access to the major functions of the Gain RM system. When the profile disables access to a menu or a functional item, that item is not presented to the user when they log into the system. 

Organizational and Access Security 

Organizational security integrates with all areas and functions relating to the inventory.

Organizational Profiles can be created and are linked to the users security profile. The Organizational security has 4 tiers available:

  • Company

  • Department

  • Group 

  • Section

Access Security works in conjunction with the organization filtering criteria. Each user and record must be assigned a numeric access level, from 1 to 5. The user’s security must be equal to or higher in value than the records access value to be a valid record for further action.
