Gain RM's business logic knows which users are logged into the system,
what records they are allowed to access and which features of the system they
are allowed to operate. Gain RM comprises the business logic and operational
rules that determine how records are managed within your organization. When active,
Gain RM sits on the web server and interacts between the user operating the
web browser and the databases where the information resides. Database The
Gain RM system can interact with MS SQL and Oracle (available only in Enterprise
Edition) ODBC compliant relational databases. The database plays an important
role in the intranet environment. It is used to warehouse data records and objects
that make up your records information knowledge base. The business rules residing
in the Gain RM software application define which records are available to which
groups of users. Web
Server The
web server is the gateway to Gain RM and manages the simple delivery tasks of
processing information received from the web browser, retrieving information from
the database and storing information into the database. Gain RM also employs
a special set of business logic called 'stored procedures'. This logic sends instructions
to the database server regarding how the data is to be obtained or manipulated.
Once the information is obtained, analyzed and formatted correctly, the web server
packages that data into 'packets' of information which are handed off to the network
to be delivered to the end user. Network GAIN
RM is certified to operate on the Windows NT network. The network is the set
of wires or fiber optic cables that connect your PC workstation to the web server.
It is through these wires that the web server sends packets of information to
your PC. Web
browser GAIN
RM is certified to run in Microsoft Internet Explorer. The web browser provides
an interface to the processing resources housed on the web server. This allows
the web browser to access the Gain RM system. The browser’s job is to take the
code packets sent by the web server via the network and present them to your PC
screen in a manner that is intelligible by the end user.
